Every few weeks I post a list of great stuff I’ve found on the web. Enjoy!
- HR Sentry runs a blog called HR Made Simple. One of the great resources they provide is free state and federal labor law posters.
- From Career Builder: Candidates do the funniest things!
- Glassdoor.com lets current and former employees leave information about a company (salary info, culture insights and such). Prospective employees can, in effect, run their own background check on a future employer before accepting an offer. Students with a valid .edu email address actually get a free year of the service.
- BayanLink is a new social network that’s a bit like Facebook, without all the drunken photos. Students, employers and career centers can use it to network professionally (without having to worry about their friends tagging awkward photos of them).
- LinkedIn has some competition from TalkBizNow. The UK company actually lets members contact and network with each other for free, something that’s a paid service on LinkedIn.
- Twitter addicts rejoice - there’s now a great way to further distract yourself at work! Yammer is a lot like Twitter, only company exclusive. To sign up to join your organization’s network, you need a valid company email address. You can create groups within the network (to send messages exclusively to your work team), and just like Twitter, you can follow people.
- Seth Godin published a quick article on his blog about finding and retaining talent.
